Neopixel is a brand name for individually addressable RGB (red-green-blue) LEDs produced by Adafruit Industries. These LEDs are also called WS2812B LEDs or simply "smart LEDs". Neopixels are designed to be controlled by a microcontroller such as an Arduino or Raspberry Pi, allowing complex lighting effects and animations to be created. Neopixels consist of a small chip embedded inside an LED package, which contains red, green and blue LEDs. Each LED can be controlled independently, allowing the creation of any color by adjusting the brightness of each LED component. The data signal is transmitted by a single wire, which simplifies wiring and allows the creation of long chains of Neopixels.
Neopixel technology allows users to unleash their creativity and fully customize their lightsabers with a variety of configurations and effects, such as blade scrolling, animations, blaster bolt deflection, and effects unstable blades, among others. Unlike standard RGB lightsabers, the distinct advantage of Neopixel lightsabers is the ability to control individual LEDs within the blade to generate various effects, giving users greater versatility. Additionally, Neopixel lightsabers are equipped with electronics, batteries, and soundboards to enhance the user experience. While the Neopixel lightsabers feature polycarbonate blades suitable for moderate duels, we caution against heavy duels, which are best suited to basic-lit RGB lightsabers.
